The Grossweberbach is the 5.5 km long right and eastern source brook of the Weberbach .
course
The Grossweberbach rises in the high Ardennes from two source streams in the forest area Ommerscheid . After the two source streams have joined, it initially flows in a south-easterly direction. It flows east of Wahlerberg and west of Herresbach past. At Rauenbusch it changes direction to the south. It flows around the Hahnenberg from the west and finally unites at Waldecho with the Kleinweberbach to the Weberbach .
biosphere
Most of the Grossweberbach valley is designated as a nature reserve. There are large stocks of beech forests and biologically valuable wet meadows . Many rare and protected animal and plant species can be found in this valuable biotope .
flora
Among the protected species are the arnica , the Centaurea nigra , the marsh cinquefoil , the dappled and the Broad-winged Orchid , and the True daphne that Eriophorum angustifolium , the Geranium sylvaticum , the common juniper , the Bogbean which Bärwurz that Knöterich- Laichkraut , the great meadow button and the swamp violet should be mentioned.
fauna
Goshawks , sparrowhawks , red kites , barnacles , tree pipits , black storks , black woodpeckers , red- backed shrike , northern gray shrike and woodcock live in the forests and meadows of the valley . The fire salamander , the mountain newt and the thread newt can also be found there. Of protected butterflies are the Mädesüß- and Braunfleckige Fritillary and the Lycaena helle and boloria eunomia to name.
