Grub (Schauenstein)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grub is a deserted area in the urban area of Schauenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Hof .

Grub is the field name for an extensive area west of the state road St 2195 between Helmbrechts and Volkmannsgrün . In the south, the area forms the border with the Helmbrechts urban area, where the Hilkersreuth and Hoftheile deserts join. As part of the desert around Kleinschwarzenbach project , a map with explanations of the three desert areas was published in 2015. The term grub indicates mining. The settlement has not yet been located in the spacious corridor and is therefore not yet a ground monument. Some authors speak of a front and a rear pit. Fragments were found u. a. Made in 2008 in the direction of Volkmannsgrün west of the forest area, there is a quarry in the forest. In Seehof Palace as the seat of the central conservation authority individual finds are documented.

Grub is mentioned in documents as a settlement in 1386 and 1388. At that time, the Schauenstein rule of the Wolfstriegel family was sold to the burgraves of Nuremberg . This led to a feud between the burgraves and the governors of Weida . In the years 1398 in the fief book of Burgrave Johann and in 1408 Grub was a desert and shared this fate with other small towns in the area, including the Jaythof and Dürrengrün . The "Grueb" desert was sold in 1398 by Burgrave Johann to Friedrich von Guttenberg .
