geography
course
The Grummibach, sometimes also called Mühlgraben , rises on the north-eastern outskirts of Urspringen from a natural stone spring near Quellenstrasse. Immediately afterwards, the water feeds a pond, at the bottom of which there are further spring outlets. Then the Grummibach flows in a field landscape through a small trough valley, the left slope of which is often wooded, to the south towards Birkenfeld . Finally it feeds a few ponds in front of the valley exit, then crosses under the state road 2219 west of the village and then flows from the right at the Weidenmühle into the Karbach flowing west .
Catchment area
The Grummibach drains about 11.9 km² of the Marktheidenfelder Platte southwards to the Karbach . In the north, its catchment area borders on that of the Steinfelder Riedbach , which arises from its upper reaches on the other side and reaches the Main as Buchenbach . All other competitors, on the other hand, drain south into the Karbach . In the northeast the catchment area of the Kettlichsgraben lies , in the rest of the east the unstable Bürgerlochsgraben, which opens into Birkenfeld, runs parallel. The Mauerraingraben is on the west side . if it has water, its near-mouth competitor, further north then the Klimbach which flows out at Karbach .
The northern watershed reaches the greatest heights, on the local mountain about 1.5 km northwest of the center of Urspringen 351 m above sea level. NN , in the Wetzenschlag north 341 m above sea level. NN and on the Meßberg almost 2 km northeast of the village 333 m above sea level. NN . Further to the south, the area is only three times above the 300 m elevation line, west of the village on the Outer Lehmberg ( 332 m above sea level ) and to the left of the middle course in the Mittelholz on the Truhberg ( 306 m above sea level ) and the Esberg ( 313 m above sea level ) close by. The estuary in the very south is just under 200 m above sea level. NN .
