geography

course

The Grundbach arises north of Dornburg from two spring branches. The western source branch rises at a height of about 322  m above sea level. NN on the eastern edge of the nature reserve Blasiusberg (area no .: 1533002). After the confluence of its source streams, the Grundbach flows through a green area about 400 meters to the south-southeast, then bends at an almost right angle to the southwest-west, only to resume its old flow direction after 150 meters. After half a kilometer the stream reaches the north-western edge of Dornburg- Frickhofen , then flows underground through the village to the main road . There it turns to the southwest, reappears on the surface at the level of the Ringstrasse , crosses under the tracks of the Oberwesterwaldbahn and shortly afterwards leaves the place. It now flows through fields to St. Martinshof and is fed there by a small field ditch. The brook now curves gently and then flows through grassland past the Westerwaldweiler . At about the level of the Antoniushof it splits into two branches. The western branch, which is still referred to as the Grundbach, flows past a stone chamber grave and finally flows out at an altitude of about 161  m above sea level. NHN in the Elbbach .
