geography
The place is located along the Lubań brook under the Gorcen ( Lubań ). The district Dziadowe Kąty on the stream of the same name was separated as an independent sołectwo (Schulzenamt).
history
The place was first mentioned in 1330 as Grunevald and 1335 as Grunvald . The name is derived from the German Grünewald . He probably had a Roman Catholic church as early as the 14th century. It belonged to the Starostei in Czorsztyn .
During the first partition of Poland in 1772 the village became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Grywałd came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Grywałd was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
