Guido Celano (born April 19, 1904 in Francavilla al Mare , † March 7, 1988 in Rome ) was an Italian actor , film director and voice actor .

Life

Celano comes from the noble family of the Counts of Celano and, contrary to his father's wishes, turned to acting after enrolling as a student of economics; initially he worked at the theater. In 1929 Mario Camerini brought him to film for Rotaie . The physically present and virile Celano, privately active as a sportsman and hunter, also played in 1930 in Terra d'incanti by Nicola Fausto Neroni , which was filmed as a silent film and subsequently set to music. After a few minor roles followed Terra madre (1931) and above all Palio (1932), shot in Siena , in which Celano shone as a successful jockey for women alongside Leda Gloria . From then on, until his death, he could be seen in numerous larger and smaller supporting roles; his filmography includes almost 130 works - often as carabiniere. From the 1960s he was also seen in numerous television roles.

1966/67 produced and directed Celano under the pseudonym William First two spaghetti westerns , which, however, was not very successful. Since then he has also been active in a number of television roles. In addition, his list of works includes a large number of synchronized roles.

Celano had been married to the former silent film actress Tina Xeo since 1935 , with whom he also ran an antiquarian bookshop in Rome; the couple had two children.
