Gunther Friedl

Gunther Friedl (born November 7, 1971 in Munich ) is a German business economist . He has held the Chair of Controlling since April 2007 and has been Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Technical University of Munich since October 2010 .

Career

Friedl studied physics at the Technical University of Munich from 1991 to 1996 (graduate physicist). At the same time he studied business administration at the University of Munich and the University of Pisa (1993 to 1998: Diplom-Kaufmann). He was a scholarship holder of the Hanns Seidel Foundation . His doctorate as Dr. oec. publ. it took place from February 1998 to February 2000 at the Institute for Production Management and Controlling at the LMU. This was followed by his habilitation until May 2004. During this time he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University and a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich. In 2004 the professorship for business administration at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz followed . Friedl has held the Chair of Controlling at the Technical University of Munich since 2007.

Memberships

Friedl is a member of the board of trustees of AIESEC , Academy Consult and the German Association for Protection of Securities Holdings (DSW). He is also a liaison professor of the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Bavarian Elite Academy . Friedl is mentor of the Max Weber program of the German National Academic Foundation and chairman of the TUM Management Alumni eV He is also head of the Ludwig Fröhler Institute and academic director of the Center for Energy Markets at the Technical University of Munich.

Awards

In 2017, Friedl received the Best Teaching Award from the TUM School of Management at the Technical University of Munich for the seventh time . In 2013 he won the Prize for Excellence in Teaching from the Technical University of Munich. In 2012 Friedl was named Professor of the Year (awarded by UNICUM Beruf magazine ) and the best lecturer in the Executive MBA Class of 2012 at the TUM School of Management. In 2011, Friedl received the VHB's Best Textbook Award for the textbook cost accounting together with Christian Hofmann and Burkhard Pedell .

Private

Friedl is married and has three children.
