Gustav Pescatore

Gustav Pescatore (born August 15, 1850 in Landsberg an der Warthe , † March 11, 1916 in Greifswald ) was a German lawyer and university professor.

Gustav Pescatore was the son of a Landsberg lawyer. He studied from 1870 to 1874 in Berlin, Heidelberg and Marburg. He received his doctorate in Marburg in 1875 and became an associate professor there in 1881. Then he was full professor at the University of Giessen . In April 1884 he was appointed professor of Roman law and civil litigation at the University of Greifswald . In 1893 he was elected rector of the university. In April 1915 he had to retire due to a serious illness.

His only son died in the First World War in 1914 . His daughter Anni (1884–1947) became an art historian.
