Gustav Schmidt (born October 8, 1898 in Friedenthal , † October 22, 1972 in Herrsching ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ).

Schmidt attended elementary school and the secondary school in Biedenkopf . In 1914 he got the war maturity examination and from 1914 took part in the First World War as a volunteer . He was employed in the Field Artillery Regiment 51 on both the Western and Eastern Fronts. After his return he became operations manager in a paper mill in Bad Nauheim . From 1919 he was active in various national and national socialist organizations, later he joined the NSDAP.

In January 1931 Schmidt was appointed SA leader and on November 17, 1932 SA standard leader in the SA Group West. Until August 14, 1933 he was the leader of the SA Standard J11 of the SA Group Hesse. From August 15, 1933 to October 9, 1933 he was leader of SA Brigade 46 (Hanau) and then until August 14, 1937 leader of SA Brigade 147 "Upper Hesse". On November 12, 1933, Schmidt was elected to the National Socialist Reichstag as a member of the NSDAP for constituency 33 (Hesse) . At that time he lived in Bad Nauheim, Hermann-Göring-Strasse 31. On April 20, 1935, he was appointed SA Oberführer and exactly one year later SA Brigade Leader. On August 15, 1937 Schmidt was assigned to the staff of the Supreme SA Leadership (OSAF) ​​and then until October 31 of the same year he was entrusted with the duties of a department head in the legal office of OSAF. On November 1, 1937, he became head of department in the court and legal department of OSAF. Schmidt was a soldier in World War II from August 1939 to September 1941 .
