Gustav Wendt (politician)

Gustav Wendt (born August 2, 1848 in Paderborn ; † July 16, 1933 in Hamburg ) was a Hamburg teacher, headmaster and member of the Reichstag .

Life

Wendt attended high schools in Paderborn and later in Hanau . He studied philology in Bonn and Berlin and took part in the Franco-German War as a one-year volunteer . During his studies he became a member of the Alemannia Bonn fraternity in the winter semester of 1867/68 . In 1873 he completed his studies with a state examination in Bonn. He worked in various positions in Wiesbaden for the next two years . In 1875 he got a position as a teacher at a secondary school in Hamburg . In 1878 he married Bertha Theodore Bahnson . In 1897 he moved to the upper secondary school before he became director of the newly founded girls' high school in 1901, which was sometimes also referred to as the Wendtsches high school .

Wendt was elected as a candidate of the German Progressive Party in the Reichstag election in 1881 for the constituency of the Province of Hanover 18 ( Stade ). He was a member of the Reichstag until 1884. In March 1884 he resigned from his parliamentary group and had been non-attached for the last six months.
