Gustav Spindler

Gustav Spindler (full name: Gustav Wilhelm Theodor Spindler ; born June 6, 1859 in Elster , † October 6, 1928 in Augustusburg ) was a German forester . He is a well-known representative of near-natural forestry in the Saxon Ore Mountains .

Life

After completing his education at the secondary school in Plauen , he became a trainee at the Carlsfeld Forestry Office in 1879 . He then studied at the Tharandt Forest Academy . After graduation, he worked as a forestry assessor in Rosenthal - Schweizermühle and Leubsdorf (Saxony) . From 1899 to 1904 he managed the forestry office in Grünhain . In 1904 Spindler became a forester in Carlsfeld, where he worked until he reached retirement age in 1924. He retired in Augustusburg, where his health deteriorated rapidly, so that he died at the age of 69.

His special merit for the near-natural forestry consisted "in the management of the Carlsfelder Reviers in the pre-regeneration process, especially the natural regeneration with extensive avoidance of clearcuts" .
