Adrien Peyrot

Adrien Peyrot (born January 8, 1856 in Geneva , † July 28, 1918 in Le Petit-Saconnex ) was a Swiss architect . His office - into which he later took his son-in-law and son as a partner - existed from 1882 until the late 1950s.

Professional biography

After starting his studies at the University of Geneva , Peyrot continued his studies at the Paris École des Beaux Arts , he worked in the studio of Jean-Louis Pascal . In 1882 he returned to Geneva and founded his own office, which was later joined by his son-in-law Albert Bourrit and his son Gustave as partners. From 1889 he was on the board of directors of the influential Societé immobilière genevoise (Geneva real estate company), whose administration building he later built. The hospital buildings of the office are noteworthy, here in particular the maternity hospital (1906-07) and the surgical clinic (1913) in Geneva, which were exemplary in technical and hygienic terms. His use of generously glazed façade elements and glass roofs can also be seen in the shop gallery in the Passage des Lions .

Albert Bourrit

Albert Elie-Octave Bourrit (born August 6, 1878 in Lyon; † August 7, 1967 in Geneva) studied architecture at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zurich after graduating from the humanistic grammar school in Geneva . After graduating in 1895, he did some internships in Paris and London before joining Adrien Peyrot's office. In 1919, after the death of his father-in-law and partner, he and his son took over the office and also the successor on the board of directors of Societé immobilière genevoise , which he then held for 4 decades. He was a member of the Federal Commission for the Preservation of Monuments, where he became an expert on French-speaking Switzerland and was involved in the restoration of the Abbey of St. Maurice, the Stockalper Palace in Brig and the Romanesque parish church of Saint-Pierre-de-Clages.

For 35 years, Peyrot was on the board of directors of the Geneva Caisse d'Epargne and infantry captain of the Swiss army.

Gustave Peyrot

Gustave Peyrot (born November 14, 1885 in Geneva; † February 17, 1963 in Geneva) studied architecture at the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris after attending the Collège in Geneva . In 1912 he entered the office of his father and brother-in-law. From 1945 he was president of the Geneva section of the Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects ( SIA ).

Gustave Peyrot was a member of the parti liberal member of the Grand Council of Geneva from 1939 to 1945 .
