history

Mansion
Kapellenhaus Gut Engershausen

The Engershausen manor was built between 1491 and 1510. The builder was the bailiff of Limburg , Reinecke II. Von Schloen, called Tribbe, who also owned the Figenburg estate . After the von Schloen family died out in 1671, the Hessian von Bern family became owners. In 1838 the von Berner family sold the estate to the von Spiegel zu Desenberg-Rothenburg family. On the way of the succession it then came to the Barons von Spiegel von and zu Peckelsheim zu Bielefeld Spiegelsberge.

Building and park

The manor house was built around 1770. It is a plastered half-timbered building with a hipped roof . The house is located on an approximately 80 x 50 meter island. The moat is spanned by a stone arch bridge. Outside the graves are the farm buildings that are still in use today. There is a small mausoleum to the north of the manor house .
