The Good upper field is a former manor and manor house in the city of Lübbecke in Minden-Lübbecke .

The estate is located on the northern slope of the Wiehengebirge , 1.5 kilometers southwest of the center of the city of Lübbecke in the immediate vicinity of the Lübbecker hospital.

history

The manor is first mentioned around 1540. In 1730 it came into the possession of the von Korff family , who appointed several Minden district administrators in the 18th century. In 1818, after bankruptcy, the Minden Hereditary Marshal Karl von der Recke on Gut Stockhausen , a son of Minister Eberhard Freiherr von der Reck , acquired the estate. To this day it is owned by his descendants.

In the autumn of 2007, the estate formed the framework for the establishment of the “Herrenhäuser und Parks im Mühlenkreis” association. Members of the association include the owners of historical facilities and local authorities in the region. Elisabeth Freifrau von der Recke is a member of the board of the association.

Building and park

The manor house and farm building are parallel to each other and form an elongated, narrow courtyard. To the east of this and to the south of the hospital is the Minister's House built according to plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel . The orangery , built between 1828 and 1829, served as a prison camp during the Second World War . It was converted into a residential building in 1980.

The parts of the park north of the orangery are no longer available apart from a few old trees. Some linden trees in the area of the access to the manor house and the orangery are noteworthy. The remaining park essentially consists of a central lawn with individual flower beds. The well-kept park is only used privately.

Todays use

The estate is still being cultivated. Former buildings (for example the mill and the orangery) are partially used for residential purposes. The property is not open to the public.
