Coats of arms of the families von Chalon, von Schloen called Tribbe and called Gehlen

Schloen is the name of an extinct Westphalian noble family with possessions near today's East Westphalian city of Minden , the Lower Saxony city of Osnabrück and in the county of Ravensberg .

Branches of the family and goods

The Schloens were a noble family that had descended into ministeriality and owned fiefs and allodial property in numerous places in the area around the Wiehen Mountains . There were two branches of the noble family Schloen (also: Schlon, Schliern, Shloen, Frenchizing often also Chalon ), which, however, partly mixed up again through marriage:

Husenmühle in Hüllhorst
  • von Schloen called Tribbe , from the 14th century, extinct in the 18th century. The Figenburg had been owned by the Tribben family branch since 1398 at the latest. Owner of the Husen estate (Hüllhorst) since the 14th century . Other family estates in 1379 included a feudal farm in " Verstinchusen " near Volmerdingsen and another knightly seat of the Tribbe branch in Eickhorst , in the Hausberge department (later Hofgut Oexemann). In addition, the manor Wickriede ( Weyckryden ), parish Hille , acquired in 1617 by Reineke Amelung Tribbe, canon in Minden, was still in the possession of his sons Hieronymus Henrich and / or Johann Philipp von Schloen called Tribbe around 1650. The Tribbe were also founders of the St. Ulricus Church (Börninghausen) and owners of Gut Groß-Engershausen

Whether there was a relationship to the French noble family Chalon , a line of the House of Burgundy-Ivrea , remains speculative. However, similarity can be found in the respective coats of arms.
