history
1987 to 1994
- History of origin
Competitor Sat.1 planned the start of its own breakfast television under the title Guten Morgen with Sat.1 for October 1, 1987 and would have become the first German television station to present this infotainment program format in Germany. The model was the morning shows broadcast in the USA ( Today since January 14, 1952) or Canada ( Canada AM since 1972) , which are referred to as Breakfast TV in other English-speaking countries . As a direct model, however, RTL used the breakfast program of the same name from RTL Radio . A large-scale advertising campaign by Sat.1 with the announcement that it would start broadcasting on October 1, 1987 for Sat.1 breakfast television forced the RTL managers to accelerate their own broadcasting efforts for the start of broadcasting scheduled for October 5, 1987 in order to forestall their competitors. That succeeded, because exactly a week earlier than Sat.1, the then RTLplus went on air with its own breakfast television on September 23, 1987. RTL was thus able to book this "media historical event" for itself. The first moderator of the program was Olaf Pessler .
- Start of transmission
RTL only pursued a defensive public relations work, so that the unannounced broadcast of the still little-widespread channel could hardly count on viewers. Both the press and most of the employees only found out about the program plans the day before. Thanks to the RTL breakfast television, the RTL program was extended because the start of broadcasting was now brought forward to 6.30 a.m. The first broadcast on September 23, 1987 was moderated by Olaf Pessler , the news was handled by Karl-Heinz Kaul, and the weather forecast was presented by Gottfried Mehlhorn. The guests were the Cistercian Abbot Thomas, sex consultant Ruth Westheimer , Karl Lagerfeld , who organized a “chic schnack” recorded in Paris, and the actress Edith Hancke . The broadcast was replaced by point 7 and later by point 6 and point 9 .
New edition from 2013
In June 2013 it was announced that due to restructuring in the morning program, the program Punkt 6 should take an hour longer from August 26, 2013 and be given the new, old title Guten Morgen Deutschland . The concept of point 6 remained with the same moderators, point 9, however, was withdrawn.
A new studio and new on-air design was used from January 12, 2015 to December 2, 2016 . Was the studio so far only done virtually via green screen realized, is the new studio from a valley area, a kitchen and an action area for artists with four monitors. The new primary color was blackberry purple instead of yellow. However, in the summer of 2015 they returned to a warm, orange color scheme. The studio was renewed on December 5th, 2016 and returned to the Greenscreen Studio. The on-air design was not renewed. In mid-2019, they returned to the studio with a real backdrop, the green screen studio has only been used for the news since then.
Contest
Every morning there is a competition in Guten Morgen Deutschland, which is pointed out (by an off-voice) before the commercial break. To participate, you have to say the lucky word "MORNING". A randomly selected player then receives 1,000 euros every day. For certain promotions, the caller receives another cash prize or material prizes, such as a new TV or smartphone, for getting through.
The minimum age for participating in the competition is 14 years. Participation in the Good Morning Germany competition is possible by phone, SMS and Internet (via the official winario competition portal). EUR 0.50 is due for each competition participation.
