Gyro tower
A gyro-tower (derived from Greek γύρος gyros , German 'rotation' and English tower 'tower' ) combines features of a viewing tower and a ride , in which a closed cabin with a ring-shaped floor plan slowly rises on a high internal steel mast to a given viewing height and after a while moves back down to the ground, the cabin slowly turning around the steel mast during the journey. The rotation of the cabin allows passengers a successive 360 ° view of the surroundings without having to change their place in the cabin. Like the Ferris wheel, the gyro tower is a slow ride.
Gyro towers are rarely represented at public festivals . One example of this is the City Skyliner . Another example of this was the Top of the World , which was originally a traveling amusement ride and is now in Freizeit-Land Geiselwind . On the other hand, they are widely used in amusement parks . One such tower is the Holstein Tower in Hansa-Park . A special type of gyro tower is the top of the Rotterdam television tower Euromast , because it was placed on top of the Euromast at a height of 101 meters.
Similar constructions are the free fall tower , the vertical drive and the Topple Tower .
