Héctor Morera Vega (born February 20, 1926 in Palmares , † December 23, 2017 in Tilarán ) was a Costa Rican clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Tilarán .

Life

Héctor Morera Vega was ordained a priest on December 17, 1949 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tilarán on December 4, 1979. The Archbishop of San José de Costa Rica , Román Arrieta Villalobos , donated him episcopal ordination on December 27 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Lajos Kada , Apostolic Nuncio in Costa Rica , and José Rafael Barquero Arce , Auxiliary Bishop in Alajuela .

In the Bishops' Conference he headed the commissions for religious, migration and ecumenism. He later became involved in diocesan formation, especially for lay people. After the earthquake in Tilarán in 1973, he did a lot of work for the population.

On July 13, 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
