Lajos Kada

Lajos Kada (born November 16, 1924 in Budapest , † November 26, 2001 ibid) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .

Life

After studying Catholic theology , Kada was ordained a priest on October 10, 1948 . He entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See in 1957 . There he worked briefly in the State Secretariat and then worked in the representations of the Holy See in Pakistan , Scandinavia , Germany and Argentina . In 1971 he was reappointed to the Curia and worked in the Pontifical Council “Cor Unum” , for which he was appointed Undersecretary in 1973.

On June 20, 1975, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Thibica and Apostolic Nuncio in Costa Rica . He was ordained bishop on July 20, 1975, Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Villot ; Co-consecrators were the Curia Bishops Giovanni Benelli and Corrado Bafile . Pope John Paul II appointed him on October 15, 1980 to the nuncio in El Salvador and on April 8, 1984 to the secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments . From August 22, 1991 he worked as a nuncio in the Federal Republic of Germany . During his term of office, among other things, the establishment of new dioceses in East Germany after reunification fell , which he took special care of. On September 22, 1995, Kada was appointed nuncio in Spain and on March 6, 1996 he was also appointed nuncio in Andorra .

On March 1, 2000, John Paul II accepted Kada's resignation because of his age. He spent the last year of his life in his private villa in Hungary.
