The Roman Catholic Diocese of Tilarán-Liberia ( Latin Dioecesis Tilaranensis-Liberian , Spanish diócesis de Tilarán-Liberia ) is one in Costa Rica situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Tilarán .
history
The diocese of Tilarán-Liberia was founded on July 22, 1961 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Qui Aeque from cession of territory by the diocese of Alajuela as the diocese of Tilarán and subordinated to the archdiocese of San José de Costa Rica as a suffragan diocese. The Diocese of Tilarán announced on July 25, 1995 parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Maiori christifidelium erected Diocese of Ciudad Quesada from. Another area assignment took place on 17 April 1998 to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Sacrorum Antistites erected Diocese of Puntarenas . On December 18, 2010, the diocese of Tilarán was renamed the Diocese of Tilarán-Liberia .
