Höllriegelskreuth is part of the municipality of Pullach in the Isar valley . It is located on the wooded, left high bank of the Isar, directly on the Munich - Wolfratshausen S-Bahn line with Höllriegelskreuth station . The settlement area has grown together with the neighboring Pullach to the north. The Grünwalder Isarbrücke crosses the river between Höllriegelskreuth and Grünwald.
history
The town was founded by master stonemason Franz Höllriegel , who had a stone quarry for Nagelfluh and a manor house built here in the mid-19th century . To do this, he first had to clear the area, which is indicated by the place name component “-kreuth” (from reuten = “clearing”). This Höllriegelskreuth quarry became famous around 1886 as the seat of the Humanitas community of the painter and cultural reformer Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach (1851–1913). Thanks to the energy supply from the Höllriegelskreuth hydropower plant and its favorable location on the Isar Valley Railway , the place became a location for industrial settlements early on. The Linde company commissioned the first air separation plant here in 1903 . This led to a conflict between the founder of the Isarwerke , Jakob Heilmann, and early conservationists around the architect Gabriel von Seidl , who founded the Isar Valley Association in 1902 .
Attractions
The most important building in the village is the former Höllriegelsche manor house, which the local founder Franz Höllriegel had built in the Isar valley opposite Grünwald Castle on the eastern bank of the Isar and on a ferry that has been in operation for centuries. Today it is home to the Brückenwirt restaurant . To the south is the Höllriegel-Park , which is laid out in the style of a landscape garden. The park was equipped with various architectural elements that served as a backdrop for his house. Such a small chapel, a Marian column, a monopteros and other places of worship. In 2019 the municipality bought the forest with Höllriegel-Park to put it under protection.
Also under monument protection are three stately villas from the Wilhelminian era on the high bank, such as Villa Bellemaison .
economy
Höllriegelskreuth is the headquarters of Linde's Gas and Engineering division . The company moved into Villa Schaumburg, the former domicile of Prince Adolf zu Schaumburg Lippe . Höllriegelskreuth is also the seat of the car rental company Sixt and the financial service provider cash.life AG .
