Initial and continuing education

Germany

Hearing care professional (academic title since August 1, 2016 before: Hearing Care ) is an after Handwerksordnung recognized (HwO) training occupation. Switzerland

In Switzerland, the training includes three years of work in a hearing aid specialist shop. After completing the training and passing the professional examination , the graduates receive the Swiss Federal Certificate for Hearing Aid Acousticians. This contract entitles you to run a branch or your own company and to settle accounts with insurance companies. In order to be able to settle accounts with SUVA , four days of further training are necessary per year.

The training is not a basic vocational training , but belongs to the higher vocational training .

Historical

The first training ordinance for the hearing aid acoustician trade dates from August 5, 1968. The first master craftsman exams took place around June 9th to 11th, 1969. Since the first examination committee should have included seasoned masters, but there was not yet any, there was improvisation. Karl Köttgen and Wilhelm Aumann were recognized as "masters of their subject", so that the technical competence was given in the examination board.

Further training regulations were published in 1982, 1997 and most recently in 2016 (current).
