The Hülser Sportverein e. V. ( Hülser SV for short ) is a German sports club in the city of Krefeld and was founded in 1971 . It is based in the Hüls district and is one of the largest sports clubs in the city. It is run exclusively by honorary members. The club offers a wide range of sports, currently it has 18 different departments: badminton , ballet , basketball , ice hockey , football , health sports, gymnastics , handball , judo , oriental dance , cycling , roller hockey , swimming , dancing , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball . The club feels committed to popular sport, but top-class sport is also at home here.

But the club is not only active in the sporting field, it takes care of the interests of the Hüls district and was significantly involved in the renovation of Hüls Castle. Some events in Hüls are also firmly linked to the name of the association, such as B. the Hülser SV Castle Festival (always in June), the children's carnival session “Jux und Klamau at Hülser SV” and the Hülser SV holiday camp (during the summer holidays).

history

The Hülser Sport Club was established in 1971 from the merger of the Hülser Turnverein 1860 eV and DJK Tus 06 Hüls clubs. The first sports offer included gymnastics , gymnastics , soccer , handball , athletics and swimming . But already in 1972 the departments volleyball , table tennis and tennis were added. In 1980, Hülser FC joined.

Over the years, the other departments were added (e.g. 1973: badminton and ballet , 1976: tournament dance , 1980: ice hockey , 1981 roller hockey , 1992: basketball and cycling ). Greek dance and oriental dance are the two youngest departments. At the end of 2013, the board decided to close the athletics department in order to make the resources freed up by it available to other departments.

Awards

swim

With the merger in 1971 of the Hülser Turnverein 1860 eV and the DJK TuS 06 Hüls to the Hülser Sportverein e. V., the offer already included the swimming department. Since then, Hülser swimmers have been represented several times at association and state championships. For example, Hannelore Zacharias was West German champion in dolphin swimming; Lena Küsterameling is currently the winner with four district championships a. a. in the back and breaststroke and participation in the international Supercup in Berlin in 2019 as the most successful Hülser swimmer. Martha Genenger , who was trained by her stepfather for the Olympic Games in the Hüls natural open- air pool in 1935 and 1936 , is still considered a role model . At the moment, the swimming department mainly trains in the LVR teaching swimming pool because the conversion of the now closed natural open-air swimming pool into an open-air swimming pool that is compatible with training and competitions has not yet been politically decided. The swimming department is headed by Corina Voigt , who herself was successful as a West German champion in freestyle swimming and as a competitive swimmer in the DSV national team. Under Corina Voigt, the swimming department has grown in terms of personnel with licensed trainers, referees, competition judges and educational staff.

badminton

The badminton department was founded in 1973. With Juliane Schenk, a future national player learned to play with the shuttlecock here.

Handball

The first team of the handball department plays in the Landesliga Group 1 (2018/19). One of the greatest successes of the Hülser SV handball players was their promotion to the top league in 2003 and the three-year league membership that followed. Subsequently, the then handball chairman Michael Görtz had to withdraw the team from the league despite a sporting non-relegation. The reason for this was a player's ceiling that was too thin despite a secure budget. The club then started a fresh start in the district league (seventh highest division).

Hülser SV found an experienced former Bundesliga player in coach Jürgen Pannenbecker, who was supposed to achieve promotion with a newly formed team. During this time, the Hülser handball players were able to rise twice under his direction. In the first season of 2006/07 they made promotion to the regional league, another two years later promotion to the association league. Following Jürgen Pannenbecker, Peter Zander took over the coaching position in 2010, but resigned it at the beginning of 2012, so that Pannenbecker again helped out the club and held the coaching office on an interim basis until the end of the season.

For the season 2012/13, the then head of department Christoph Eickmanns (2009-2014 in office) was able to find a new coach in Manfred Select, but he was replaced in the middle of the season by Michael Zwering, the player-coach of the 2nd men's team, and Nils Lehmann . Nils Lehmann, former national player, Bundesliga coach of the HSG Düsseldorf and holder of the A-coaching license of the DHB, started playing handball for the club for the first time after leaving Düsseldorf in 2007.

Michael Zwering remained loyal to the club as a coach for the 2013/14 season, while Lehmann remained active as a consultant for Hülser SV.

The new handball chairman of the handball department has been Nils Gehlings since summer 2014.

In addition, in Marcel Görden & Luca Witzke, later Bundesliga and junior national players at Hülser SV grew up in the handball department. The handball department is the second largest in the entire club.

athletics

From the beginning of the 1980s until the end of the year, Hülser SV celebrated a number of successes with its young talents in the athletics department. The then Hülser SV was represented with its athletics department in smaller sports competitions, numerous district championships and even at the German championships. The outstanding athletes at the time were Jens Ehrich (born 1973), Bastian Dames (born 1974) and Udo Jendges (born 1970), who were looked after by the trainer at the time, Klaus Dames, who were able to bring numerous medals and certificates "home" . After this "golden" era, the number of members as well as active participation in competitions unfortunately decreased noticeably. To date, the athletics department has not been able to recover from this lack of interest combined with manageable membership.
