In the HGV Hamburger Gesellschaft für Vermögens- und Beteiligungsmanagement mbH , HGV for short , a large part of the company investments and some real estate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg are bundled. The HGV belongs entirely to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Corporate goals

The corporate goals of the HGV are

  • offsetting the tax results of Hamburg's public companies
  • the implementation of the goals set by the Hamburg Senate for the individual public companies
  • the economic use and further development of your real estate
  • the consideration of other public interests as specified by the Hamburg Senate

In the past, the Hanseatic city tried to reorganize its budget by selling companies.

Group structure

The investments are divided into the areas of local public transport, supply and disposal, real estate and urban development, transport and logistics and other investments. In addition, HGV owns 145 properties that are used by the police , fire brigade (136 in total) and the Hamburg Historical Museum Foundation (9).

Transportation

Supply and disposal

  • HWW - Hamburger Wasserwerke GmbH (total share: 100%): A share of 5.1% is held directly and 94.9% indirectly via the 100% subsidiary HWW - Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH . Hamburger Wasserwerke GmbH supplies around two million people in Hamburg and 21 surrounding communities with drinking water. Additional tasks relating to water and energy supply are performed via investments (e.g. Hamburg Energie GmbH - HWW share: 100%).
  • Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH (total share: 100%): A share of 25.1% is held directly and 74.9% indirectly via the wholly-owned subsidiary Hamburg Energieetze GmbH . Stromnetz Hamburg operates the electricity distribution network with a total length of approx. 30,000 km. After a referendum in 2013, these were remunicipalised .
  • Gasnetz Hamburg (share: 100%): Gasnetz Hamburg operates the natural gas network in large parts of the Hamburg metropolitan area over a length of approx. 7,400 km.
  • Wärme Hamburg GmbH (share: 100%, before 2019 share: 25.1%; 74.9% Vattenfall): Wärme Hamburg GmbH builds and operates lines for the distribution of district heating in Hamburg.
  • Society for the elimination of special waste mbH (share: 50%): The society for the elimination of hazardous waste operates a hazardous waste dump in Rondeshagen . Another owner with 50% is the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
  • Bäderland Hamburg GmbH (share: 100%): Bäderland Hamburg operates 26 indoor and outdoor pools, the ice rink in Farmsen and leases 4 other outdoor pools.

Real estate and urban development

  • SAGA Siedlungs-Aktiengesellschaft Hamburg (share: 71.6%): SAGA Siedlungs-Aktiengesellschaft Hamburg rents around 91,000 apartments, around 1,000 commercial properties and around 32,000 garages and parking spaces. Another owner with 28.4% is the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
  • GWG-Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (stake: 100%): GWG-Beteiligungsgesellschaft holds 19.4% of the shares in GWG Gesellschaft für Wohnen und Bauen, 80.6% of which are held by SAGA Siedlungs-Aktiengesellschaft Hamburg.
  • Sprinkenhof GmbH (total share: 100%): A share of 5.1% is held directly and 94.9% indirectly via the 100% subsidiary spriag-Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH . The company develops and manages properties with predominantly commercial use (end of 2013: 3,678 properties with 8,458 rental contracts).
  • HGL Hamburger Gesellschaft für Luftverkehrsanlagen mbH (share: 100%): The HGL Hamburger Gesellschaft für Luftverkehrsanlagen leases its own land and buildings to Airbus Operations GmbH .
  • HafenCity Hamburg GmbH (share: 100%): The company is responsible for the development and marketing of HafenCity.
  • Limited partnership Verwaltung Hamburgischer Gebäude VGH GmbH & Co. (stake: 0.5%) and general partner Verwaltung Hamburgischer Gebäude VHG GmbH (stake: 100%): VGH rents eleven properties to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, e.g. B. Courthouse on Sievekingplatz and the district offices in Altona, Bergedorf and Harburg. Another owner of the limited partnership with 99.5% is the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
  • IMPF Hamburgische Immobilien Management Gesellschaft mbH (stake: 100%): IMPF Hamburgische Immobilien Management Gesellschaft rents 136 police and fire-fighting objects, as well as nine museum objects in Hamburg, which are rented from HGV.
  • GMH Gebäudemanagement Hamburg GmbH (share: 100%): GMH and the state company SBH Schulbau Hamburg form a group with a uniform structure with uniform management and mutual business errands. GMH provides construction and management services for schools in the south of Hamburg.
  • SGG Städtische Gebäudeeigenreinigung GmbH (share: 100%): SGG Städtische Gebäudeeigenreinigung cleans urban office buildings, schools and sports halls.

Transport and logistics

  • HHLA - Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (total share: 69.6%): A share of 50.7% is held directly and 18.9% indirectly via the 100% subsidiary HHLA - Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH . The remaining shares are in free float. The listed HHLA operates port logistics in the container , intermodal transport and logistics segments .
  • Flughafen Hamburg GmbH (calculated share: 51%): A share of 2.6% is held directly and 94.9% indirectly via the 51% subsidiary FHK Flughafen Hamburg Konsortial- und Service GmbH & Co oHG . Another owner with 2.5% is HAP Hamburg Airport Partners GmbH & Co KG. Flughafen Hamburg GmbH operates the international airport in Hamburg.
  • HHVA - Hamburg Verkehrsanlagen GmbH (share: 100%): Hamburg Verkehrsanlagen GmbH operates the street lighting and traffic signal systems in the Hamburg city area.
  • Hapag-Lloyd AG (stake: 23.6%): In 2008, HGV acquired a stake in Hapag-Lloyd through Hamburgische Seefahrtsbeteiligung "Albert Ballin" GmbH & Co. KG ; the stake has been held directly since 2013.

Other holdings

  • HMC - Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (share: 100%): Hamburg Messe und Congress is responsible for the organization and implementation of trade fairs and congresses in the Hanseatic city.
  • Airbus Group (calculated share: 0.78%): HGV is - alongside Lower Saxony , Bavaria and Bremen - limited partner of Galintis GmbH & Co. KG with a stake of 45.45%. KfW takes over the management as general partner . Galintis is in turn limited partner of GZBV mbH & Co. KG , in which German public investors hold 12% (France also 12% and Spain 4%) of the European participation structure in the Airbus Group.

Former holdings

  • Hamburg Commercial Bank (previous share: 6.1%): In November 2018, what was then HSH Nordbank was the first Landesbank to be privatized and sold to an American investor group under the leadership of the US hedge fund Cerberus for around one billion euros .
  • Beiersdorf AG (former stake: 10%): From 2003 to 2006, HGV also held a 10% stake in Beiersdorf AG in order to prevent a takeover by Procter & Gamble .
  • Aurubis AG (former share: 5%): In order to prevent a possible break-up of Aurubis AG (then Norddeutsche Affinerie) in 2008, HGV briefly acquired a 5% stake in one of the largest copper producers in the world. The share was later sold for a profit of 7.1 million euros.
