Hael Yxxs

HAEL YXXS , also HAEL YGGS, (* 1956 in Bautzen ) is a painter , graphic artist , object and installation artist and also active in photography and digital media.

Life

After six years of studying at Moscow's Lomonosov University , he graduated in 1980 with a degree in physics . He has been working as a freelancer in Leipzig since 1983 ; from 1988 onwards, this has been exclusively artistic work. There were work stays in Israel , Korea , Sweden , Spain , Italy , Canada and the USA .

After initially creating narrative and figurative images in graphics and painting, the artist turned away from the traditional “mechanisms of recognition” and invented strongly symbolic representations (“normal clock”, “ring and shadow”, “newtonscript”), each “one” for itself incomplete encyclopedia of the complexity of simplicity ”. Last but not least, his own scientific background and the collaboration with artist and computer scientists such as JVS allow him to utilize new materials, media and mechanisms, especially with objects, installations and actions. In doing so, however, it is precisely about the representation of what knowledge cannot grasp, about the “continuous production of improbability”, the “cultivation of ignorance”, and ultimately about a re-humanization of reason through purposeless amazement and play.

Not least as a late consequence of his studies, HAEL YXXS deals more and more with the circle number Pi.

Works by the artist are owned by the Hermitage in St. Petersburg , the Albertina in Vienna , the Art Fund Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and in private collections in Germany , England , Switzerland , Israel and the USA.
