Haidhof is a district of the town of Graefenberg in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim and is located in Franconian Switzerland .

history

Two possibilities of the origin of the name are known: "Hof auf der Heide" (woodless, undeveloped plain) and "Hof des Haid". The place "Haidhoff" was mentioned for the first time in 1364.

Haidhof was incorporated into the town of Graefenberg on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform as a district of the previously independent municipality of Thuisbrunn.

The Haidhofer Schloßberg (approx. 569  m above sea  level ) rises north of the village . The castle Schloßberg ( 560.1  m above sea level ), of which only a few wall fragments have survived, used to stand on its southeast spur . Nowadays the lookout point "Burgstein" is located there with a view of southern Franconian Switzerland.
