history
In the Lachenhau and Weiherspan corridors there is a burial mound from the Hallstatt period . The place was first mentioned in 1275. An unknown noble family built the now defunct Hailtingen Castle . In 1396 the House of Habsburg pledged its rights over Hailtingen to the Truchsessen von Waldburg . In 1786 Hailtingen became part of the Thurn und Taxis territory and in 1806 it was incorporated into the Kingdom of Württemberg . The existence of a community in Hailtingen can be traced back to 1518. Since 1359, Hailtingen was incorporated into the church by the Reichenau Monastery and in 1562 it was subordinated to the cathedral chapter of the Bishop of Constance . The castle tower and church tower in the coat of arms awarded in 1971 are intended to remind of the settlements Burghailtingen and Kirchhailtingen, which can still be clearly distinguished today.
Since October 1st, 1974, Hailtingen has been a district of Dürmentingen.
