These include two elevations to the southwest ( 382  m and 383  m ) in the Czech Republic, to the south of the so-called Krankenhausberg ( 392  m ) and the Georgswalder Ziegelberg ( 396  m ) and to the southeast of the Windmühlberg ( 389  m ). The Hainberg falls steeply towards the Ritterbachtal and gently sloping towards the Spree valleys. At its eastern foot, the Oberspree and the Spreedorfer Spree unite to form the Spree .

The Hainberg offers a wide view of the villages of Hempel, Friedersdorf and Ebersbach in the surrounding valleys .

history

In 1569 the plateau was called Schöpsenhaine , later the main summit was called the Vordere Haine . At that time the Hainberg was used as a pasture by the shepherds of the Georgswalder Hof. From 1703 the corridors belonging to the Mundgut Ebersbach on the eastern slope of the Hainberg were settled. An inn opened on the Hainberg summit in 1868. In 1871 a windmill was built on the south-eastern side peak above the groves; it ceased operations in 1890 and was then canceled. The Hainbergbaude was rebuilt in 1998 and is now run as a hotel and restaurant.
