Hallsville is a city in Harrison County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located at the confluence of US Highway 80 with Farm Road 450 on the Union Pacific Railroad line , 20 km west of Marshall in the southwest of the county. The place is in the east about 50 km from Arkansas and Louisiana , in the north about 90 km from Oklahoma and has a total area of 5.9 km² without any significant water surface.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 2,772 people lived here in 993 households and 799 families. The population density was 469.4 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 93.15% White, 4.76% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 0.69% other ethnic groups. About 0.90% were mixed race and 2.27% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 993 households, 48.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.8% of these were married couples living together. 14.8% were single mothers and 19.5% were non-families. 17.8% of all households were single households and 7.5% had people living in it who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.16.
33.2% of the population were under 18 years old, 7.5% 18 to 24, 31.3% 25 to 44, 20.5% 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 86.9 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 83.2 men.
