Halvor Nordhaug

Halvor Nordhaug (born February 26, 1953 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian Lutheran clergyman and has been a bishop in the Bjørgvin diocese (Bergen) of the Norwegian Church since 2009 .

Life

Nordhaug's parents were the pastor Ole Nordhaug (* 1925), bishop in the diocese of Møre from 1983 to 1991, and Liv Nordhaug (1926–2002), known as a hymn poet . After finishing school, Nordhaug studied Protestant theology at the private theological college ( Det teologiske Menighetsfakultet ) in Oslo . He passed the candidate theological exam in 1978 and the practical theological exam in 1979. After his ordination he worked first as a military pastor, from 1981 as pastor for Norwegian students abroad. From 1986 to 1991 he was a consultant in the inter-church council of his church, then chaplain ( kapellan ) in Ås . In 1995 he became rector of the Practical Theological Seminary of the Menighets Faculty .

In December 2008, Nordhaug was elected bishop of the Bjørgvin diocese. He took office on January 1, 2009 and was introduced in March 2009.

Nordhaug is married and has three grown sons.
