Kari Veiteberg (born February 4, 1961 in Stord ) is a Norwegian Lutheran clergyman and theologian. Since the end of 2017 she has been bishop in the Oslo bishopric of the Norwegian Church .

Life

Veiteberg studied Protestant theology at the University of Oslo and passed the theological candidate exam in 1988 and the practical theological exam in 1989. She then also earned a degree ( mellomfag ) in theater studies . After her ordination in 1992, she worked as a chaplain ( kapellan ) in Trondheim . From 1995 she was a scholarship holder and lecturer in liturgy at the Practical Theological Seminary at the University of Oslo. In 2000 she became a pastor in the Oslo City Mission . She held this position with various interruptions (e.g. 2009–2012 as rector of the liturgical center of her church) up to her election as bishop. In 2006 she was at the University of Oslo to Dr. theol. PhD.

In September 2017, Veiteberg was elected Bishop of the Diocese of Oslo to succeed Ole Christian Kvarme and was introduced in December 2017.
