Helga Haugland Byfuglien (born June 22, 1950 in Bergen ) is bishop of the Evangelical Norwegian Church and since October 2, 2011, President of the Norwegian Bishops' Conference (norw. Preses i bispemøtet ).

Byfuglien worked as a pastor from 1978 to 1993, first in the Trondheim district of Kolstad, then in Ås . Then she was episcopal vicarin ( stiftskapellan ) in the diocese of Borg (east of Oslo ) for four years . After a time as general secretary of the Norwegian YMCA , she was ordained Bishop of Borg on December 11, 2005.

The Norwegian Bishops' Conference elected her chairman on October 21, 2010. As part of a comprehensive church reform, the Bishops' Conference received a permanent chair shortly thereafter. For him, the position of twelfth bishop was established, to whom only the five parishes of the provost's office at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim are directly subordinate. Byfuglien was confirmed as President on March 25, 2011 by the Norwegian government.

From 2010 to 2017 Byfuglien was one of seven vice-presidents of the Lutheran World Federation .
