Olav Øygard (born July 29, 1956 in Sola (Norway) ) is a Norwegian Lutheran clergyman and theologian. Since 2014 he has been bishop in the diocese of Nord-Hålogaland , the northernmost diocese of the Church of Norway .

Øygard studied Protestant theology at the Menighetsfakultet (parish faculty ) in Oslo and passed the theological candidate exam in 1980. From 1981 he worked in Finnmark , first until 1985 as a school and youth pastor, until 1991 as parish pastor in Sør-Varanger and then in Alta , where he also served as provost from 2011 to 2014 . He was appointed bishop on September 25, 2014, after narrowly prevailing in the final vote against Herborg Finnset , then Tromsø cathedral prince , and was appointed to his office on November 9 in Tromsø Cathedral .
