Herborg Oline Finnset (born March 28, 1961 in Sørreisa , Troms ) is a Norwegian Lutheran clergyman and theologian. Since 2017 she has been bishop in the Nidaros diocese of the Church of Norway .

Life

Finnset studied Protestant theology at the Menighetsfakultet (parish faculty ) in Oslo and passed the theological candidate exam in 1987. After her ordination in 1988, she worked from 1998 to 2005 as a chaplain ( kapellan ) in Hammerfest , then in Lenvik . In 2005 she became the cathedral priest at Tromsø Cathedral and thus also deputy to the Bishop of North Hålogaland , Per Oskar Kjølaas . In 2014 she was defeated in the bishopric election in this diocese by eight to seven votes. In 2017 she was briefly provost in Strinda (district of Trondheim ). On June 12th of this year she was unanimously elected bishop of the diocese of Nidaros and introduced in September 2017.
