Qanat Ïsläm

Qanat Islam (also: Kanat Islam , Kazakh Қанат Ислам / قانات يسلام / Qanat Islam; Chinese  哈那提·斯拉木 , Pinyin Hanati Silamu * 13. September 1984 in Altay , Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang of the People's Republic of China ) is a Kazakh Boxer from China. He won a bronze welterweight medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics .

Career

Qanat Ïsläm is a member of the Kazakh nationality in China. He started boxing as a teenager. In 1997 he was accepted into a regional boxing school in Xinjiang and trained there. In 2000 he won his first championship in Xinjiang and in 2003 he became the first Chinese welterweight champion. His trainer is Abulimuke Abuderexiti.

In 2004 he was able to qualify for the Olympic Games in Athens at the Asian Olympic welterweight elimination in Guangzhou . In Athens he won his first fight against Sadat Tebazaalwa from Uganda on points. In the round of 16, however, he was eliminated by losing points to Ruslan Chairow from Azerbaijan and came in 9th place.

In 2005 Qanat Ïsläm was again Chinese welterweight champion and was used at the world championship that year in Mianyang. Also in Mianyang he only won his first fight against Michele Cirillo from Italy and was eliminated in the round of 16 with a point defeat against Englishman Neil Perkins (19:25), which put him back in 9th place.

In 2006 he took part in the Asian Games in Doha . He won there over Dilbag Singh from India and Behzodbek Yunusov from Uzbekistan each on points. In the semifinals he was defeated by Baqit Sarsekbajew from Kazakhstan on points (30:37) and won his first medal at an international championship with the bronze medal .

Qanat Ïsläm won the same medal at the Asian Championships 2007 in Ulaanbaatar . He beat the welterweight Morteza Sepahvandi, Iran and again Behzodbek Yunusov on points before he lost in the semifinals against Möngöntsoodschyn Nandin-Erdene from Mongolia just on points (20:23). In the same year he started at the World Championships in Chicago . He was able to convince there and defeated Behzodbek Yunusov (22:16), Gerard O'Mahony, Australia (23:17), Ruslan Chairow (26: 6) and Baqit Sersekbajew (20:14) four very strong boxers. In the semifinals he was then defeated by Manon Boonjumnong from Thailand just on points (20:23).

In 2008 he won the Kings Cup in Bangkok in the welterweight final over Baqit Sarsekbajew on points (14: 8), who would later become Olympic champion in this weight class in Beijing . Qanat Ïsläm also started in Beijing and defeated Precious Makina from Zambia (21: 4), Joseph Mulema from Cameroon (9:49 and Tureano Johnson from the Bahamas (14: 4), but lost to Carlos Banteaux (Bantuer) Suarez in the semi-finals from Cuba on points, winning an Olympic bronze medal .

In the 2010/11 season Qanat Ïsläm started for the Astana Arlans in the World Series of Boxing and was able to win four of five fights. The following season he won three of five fights.
