The Lübeck Chamber of Crafts represents the interests and service provider for the craft in southern Schleswig-Holstein . It represents more than 20,000 member companies with around 107,000 employees and more than 10,000 trainees. The chamber district includes the cities of Kiel , Lübeck , Neumünster and the districts Segeberg , Duchy of Lauenburg , Ostholstein , Pinneberg , Plön , Steinburg and Stormarn districts . In addition to the headquarters in Lübeck, the chamber is present at five other locations. The Lübeck advanced training center is also located in the Hanseatic city. In addition, the Lübeck Chamber of Crafts operates three vocational training centers: Travemünde vocational training center, Elmshorn vocational training center, Kiel vocational training center. History of the Chamber of Crafts
On April 6, 1900, the constituent assembly of the Chamber of Crafts in Altona met, which consisted of 32 elected craftsmen. In 1937 Altona was incorporated into the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the seat of the Chamber of Crafts was moved to Lübeck and the name was changed. Since then, the chamber has been called "Lübeck Chamber of Crafts". It became the legal successor to the existing Chamber of Commerce in Lübeck, which was dissolved at the same time. The honorary master baker Knüppel from Altona was elected as the first chairman of the Chamber of Crafts - the office of president was not introduced until 1922. The Lübeck Chamber of Crafts received its first elected president in 1945 with the builder Hermann Wandke.
Structures and organs
The Chamber of Crafts is a self-governing body and is run by volunteer craftsmen. The plenary assembly, the highest decision-making body of the chamber, consists of 36 elected members, of which 24 are self-employed craftsmen and business owners in the craft-related trade and 12 employee representatives who are employed in such businesses. The members of the plenary assembly are the representatives of the trades located in the entire district of the Lübeck Chamber of Crafts. In addition to the President, the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Crafts includes two vice-presidents as well as two further employer representatives and one further employee representative.
Tasks and range of services
The Chamber of Crafts is a corporation under public law (Germany) . Their tasks are stipulated by law in the craft regulations. This includes, for example, keeping the handicrafts register and the directory of the business owners of a trade or craft-like trade that is not subject to authorization. It is also the task of the chamber to regulate vocational training , to issue regulations for this, to monitor its implementation and to lead an apprenticeship role . The Chamber of Crafts issues journeyman's examination regulations and master craftsman's examination regulations for the individual trades as well as regulations for examinations within the framework of professional training or retraining. Other tasks are, for example, the appointment and swearing-in of experts and the establishment of intermediaries for the settlement of disputes between business owners of a trade and their clients.

The Lübeck Chamber of Crafts successfully had its management system certified for the first time in December 2004, including certification as an educational institution.
