Hannibal August von Schmertzing

Hannibal August von Schmertzing (born October 13, 1691 in Ehrenberg ; † January 4, 1756 ) was a royal Polish and electoral Saxon chamberlain and manor owner .

Life

He was a member of the Saxon noble family von Schmertzing . His parents were the heir on Ehrenberg, court master in Zeitz and Polish- Saxon chamberlain Hannibal Germanus von Schmertzing and Elisabeth Auguste von Ripperda adH Ellerburg . General Friedrich Hannibal von Schmertzing was his brother and General Heinrich Karl Ludwig Herault de Hautcharmoy was his sister consort and thus brother-in-law.

On the death of his father he wrote the book The probably accomplished journey of human life, which passed away as Hannibal German Freyherr von Schmeltzing on Aug. 17, 1715 . The center of his life was the Saxon residence city of Altenburg .

Schmertzing owned the Skassa manor from 1726 to 1732 and, along with Heinrich von Brühl, was one of the tenants of the Gangloffsommern manor in Brühl . He was also the owner of the castle in Reusa near Plauen .

One of his lasting merits is the gift of an organ for the church in Stünzhain .

  • His daughter Agnes Dorothea, born in Altenburg in 1729, married the Silesian Carl J. Paczensky and Tenczin in Breslau.
