Hans-Carl Rüdel (born May 2, 1906 in Kiel ; † June 27, 1976 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

During his studies in Kiel in 1928 he became a member of the Krusenrotter fraternity . In 1936, Hans-Carl Rüdel took over the farm pharmacy in Kiel from his father. He was the fourth generation to run the pharmacy. After the pharmacy was also destroyed in the Second World War , Rüdel rebuilt it in 1949/1950 after returning from French captivity in 1946. From 1948 to 1953 Hans-Carl Rüdel was President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Chamber of Pharmacies. In 1967 he passed the business on to his son Hans-Jochen Rüdel.

Rüdel attracted attention in 1967 as chairman of the Kiel Yacht Club when he wrote a letter to Karl Carstens (then State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense) in the dispute over whether the sailing competitions of the 1972 Olympic Games should be in Travemünde or Kiel , in which he claimed, Travemünde is unsuitable because of the close border with the GDR .

Rüdel worked as a Danish consul for many years.

politics

The pharmacist Rüdel was a member of the German Bundestag in the third electoral term . He ran in 1957 in the constituency of Kiel , which he was able to win with 50% of the first votes . Rüdel was a member of the Kiel Council from 1951 to 1957 and from 1960 to 1970. From 1951 to 1955 and 1959 to 1962 he was deputy chairman there. Between June and November 1959 he was the city president of Kiel.
