from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans-Georg Arlt (born February 3, 1927 in Züllichau ; † July 11, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German violinist .

Life

The son of the concert pianist Lotte Kruse (daughter of the music writer Georg Richard Kruse) and the teacher and violinist Ernst Arlt began to learn to play the violin from his father at the age of six . He was tutored for ten years by his father, who discovered in him the gift of perfect hearing . After he was given the opportunity to audition for Max Strub at the age of twelve , he was enrolled as a regular student at the Berlin University of Music in 1943 when he was sixteen . Arlt played in the university orchestra , which was at times under the direction of Sergiu Celibidache , who was also a student at the time.

His artistic career was interrupted by the Second World War, and after his release from Soviet captivity, he was able to continue his activity as a violinist. From 1946 he worked for four years with the Berlin RBT Orchestra (conductor: Horst Kudritzki ) and held the post of concert master there. At the same time, Arlt played in the orchestra of the Berlin State Opera and in the orchestra of the Friedrichstadtpalast . From 1950 to 1958, he toured with Werner Müller and his RIAS dance orchestra. In 1959 he was co-founder and concertmaster of the Great Studio Orchestra Berlin. The task of this orchestra was to create the concert framework for the broadcasts of the broadcasters RIAS Berlin and Sender Free Berlin . He has made guest appearances as a soloist at home and abroad. Arlt also took part in recordings.

At the request of the producer of EMI - Electrola , Fritz Ganss , he accepted a position as concert master with the radio orchestra of the Radio Forces Françaises de Berlin . With this orchestra, which for legal reasons was listed on records as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra , he also made the operetta recordings for Eurodisc until the late 1970s, under the direction of Werner Schmidt-Boelcke , Robert Stolz and Nico Dostal .

In 1978 he joined the orchestra of the Berlin Theater des Westens and was concertmaster there until the end of 1991. Along with Johannes Heesters and Götz Friedrich, he was an honorary member of the house.

The violinist and orchestra leader Hans-Georg Arlt died on July 11, 2011.
