Hans-Georg Koitz (born April 4, 1935 in Striegau , Silesia ) is auxiliary bishop emeritus in the diocese of Hildesheim .

Life

Koitz studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Frankfurt am Main and Munich . On June 30, 1962 he received in Salzgitter Lebenstedt the priesthood . After his chaplaincy in Hanover from 1962 to 1965 , he worked as a missionary in Nigeria for two years . When he returned to the diocese, he became a religion teacher at the Josephinum Hildesheim grammar school . Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen called him in 1974 to the reign of the Episcopal Seminary , which he headed for 18 years. On 24 August 1992 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Cantanus and auxiliary bishop in Hildesheim. After his retirement as auxiliary bishop, Koitz was cathedral dean in Hildesheim and president of Hildesheim Cathedral Music . Until his retirement he was a member of the “Spiritual Professions and Church Services” and “Education and School” commissions of the German Bishops' Conference .

After reaching the age of 75, Auxiliary Bishop Koitz was retired on May 1, 2010 in a pontifical ministry in St. Godehard's Basilica .

Koitz has accompanied the cathedral renovation in recent years in the office of cathedral dean as host . After the reopening, he handed over the office to Auxiliary Bishop Heinz-Günter Bongartz , who is also the new President of Hildesheim Cathedral Music .
