Hans-Joachim Lauck

Hans-Joachim Lauck (born September 27, 1937 in Freyburg a. Unstrut , Querfurt district , Province of Saxony ) is a German politician ( SED ). He was Minister for Heavy Machinery and Plant Engineering in the GDR .

Life

After attending primary school, the son of a worker completed an apprenticeship as a fitter at VEB Metallschmelz- und Walzwerk Merseburg from 1951 to 1955 , and then studied until 1958 at the engineering school for rolling mill and metallurgical technology in Riesa , where he graduated as an engineer for rolling mills. From 1962 to 1968 he completed a correspondence course at the Bergakademie Freiberg with a degree in metal forming. In 1985 he became a Dr.-Ing. PhD at Bergakademie Freiberg.

From 1958 to 1963 he worked first as assistant to the production director, then as production manager at VEB steel and rolling mill "Wilhelm Florin" Hennigsdorf . From 1963 to 1969 he was the main consultant, department head and production director at VVB Stahl- und Walzwerke Berlin. This was followed by a position as production director in the VEB quality and stainless steel combine in Hennigsdorf. From 1970 to 1979 he was finally director of the VEB steel and rolling mill in Brandenburg and from 1979 to 1986 general director of the VEB quality and stainless steel combine Brandenburg. In this function he ensured that BSG Stahl Brandenburg was strongly supported .

From July 1986 to November 1989 he was Rolf Kersten's successor, Minister for Heavy Machinery and Plant Engineering, and since November 1986 a member of the GDR's Council of Ministers . On January 11, 1990, he was re- elected as a member of the Council of Ministers by the People's Chamber ; on January 15, 1990, he succeeded Karl Grünheid as Minister of Mechanical Engineering in the Modrow government and remained in office until the change of government in April 1990. After that he was sub-department head for mechanical engineering in the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the de Maizière government until October 1990 .

From 1951 to 1964 Lauck was a member of the FDJ and joined the SED in 1963 . In 1975/76 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" at the Central Committee of the SED. Lauck was a member of the SED district leadership of Brandenburg and for several years city ​​councilor of the city of Brandenburg (Havel) .

In his retirement, Lauck lives again in his hometown Freyburg an der Unstrut .
