Hans-Joachim Schabedoth (born January 20, 1952 in Daseburg (now part of Warburg ), † January 18, 2020 ) was a German trade union political advisor, author and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After training as an electrical mechanic, he worked in this profession at the Deutsche Bundesbahn . In 1974 he passed the Abitur at the Friedrich-Spee-Kolleg in Neuss, then he studied history, politics, art history and education at the University of Marburg . After the state examination , he received his doctorate in political science in 1981 with a dissertation on university reform .

Since 1981 he has been the union secretary at IG Metall , initially in Stuttgart, from 1987 to 2013 in Frankfurt am Main as a consultant to the IG Metall executive board, department for social policy and fundamental issues. From 2001 to 2009 he was head of the social policy department at the federal executive board of the German Federation of Trade Unions in Berlin.

Schabedoth died on January 18, 2020.

Hans-Joachim Schabedoth was a member of the SPD from 1971 until his death.

In the federal election 2013 he ran in the constituency of Hochtaunus and in 13th place on the Hessian state list of the SPD. He succeeded in entering the Bundestag via the state list . He was a member of the Committee on Economy and Energy. His main focus was on industrial policy, electromobility and training for skilled workers. He was also a member of the parliamentary advisory board of the Bundesverband eMobilität eV Berlin and deputy chairman of the German-Greek parliamentary group.

In April 2017, the state party conference in Kassel voted Hans-Joachim Schabedoth 17th on the state list for the 2017 Bundestag election , which, however, was not enough for a mandate in the 2017 Bundestag election.
