Hans-Martin Linnemann

Hans-Martin Linnemann (born December 30, 1930 in Witten ) is a Protestant theologian and, as President, was the spiritual director of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia based in Bielefeld .

Career

After studying at the universities of Marburg , Göttingen , Münster and at the Bethel Church University , Linnemann passed the first and second theological exams in 1955 and 1958 and then entered the pastoral service of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia. In 1958 he was in Münster ordained and worked from 1960 to 1965 as a student chaplain in Münster , then to 1976 as a parish priest in Dortmund at St. Reinoldi .

In 1976 Linnemann was elected superintendent in Lünen and chairman of the United Church Districts of Dortmund and Lünen. He held this office for nine years. In 1984 he was elected President of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia and held this office from March 1985 until his retirement in March 1996.

Other functions

From 1987 to 1991 Linnemann was chairman of the council of the Evangelical Church of the Union (area Federal Republic of Germany and West Berlin), and from 1988 to 1996 deputy chairman of the Arnoldshain conference . From 1989 on, Linnemann was a member of the EKD Council . He also chaired the Ecumenical Studies in Bochum, the Evangelical Studies in Villigst and the Ev. Westphalia-Lippe Press Association.

Honors

In 1988 Linnemann was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .
