Hans-Otto Schwarz

Hans-Otto Schwarz (* 24. May 1929 in Esslingen ; † 9. April 2011 in Nürtingen ) was an SPD - politician and Minister of Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg .

education and profession

Schwarz attended school in Nürtingen and graduated from high school in 1948. From 1949 he began studying economics at the University of Tübingen , which he graduated with a diploma in 1952. He financed his studies as an unskilled worker. In 1953, Schwarz received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. He then worked briefly in industry. He then studied business administration at the Nuremberg University of Economics and Social Sciences , where he passed the assessor exam in 1958. Until 1966 he worked as a teacher at a vocational school in Nürtingen.

Political activity

Schwarz was also politically active in the SPD early on. From 1956 to 1968 he represented the constituency of Nürtingen and then until 1976 the constituency of Stuttgart IV in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . He was also a member of the Nürtingen district council from 1959 to 1966 .

With the formation of the grand coalition under Prime Minister Hans Filbinger in 1966, Schwarz moved into his cabinet as Minister of Economics. After the state elections in 1972, the CDU alone was able to form the state government in Baden-Württemberg. Therefore black lost his ministerial office. However, he remained a member of the state parliament and chaired a committee.

After his time as a politician, he switched to the energy industry and became chairman of the management board of Gasversorgung Süddeutschland GmbH . In 1995 he retired. In the last active years he was also President of the Federal Association of the German Gas and Water Management.

Among other things, Schwarz received the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1978 and the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit in 1987 .

Family and private

Schwarz was married to Irene Renate born in 1957. Schnaitmann and has two sons and a daughter.
