Hans-Peter Annen

Hans-Peter Annen (born February 7, 1950 in Saarbrücken ) is a German diplomat .

Life

After studying German , history and social studies at the University of Saarbrücken , Annen was assistant for German literature at the University of Saarbrücken from 1974 to 1978.

In 1978 he joined the Foreign Service . After working at the German Embassy in Washington , he was trade and press attaché at the embassy in Budapest from 1985 to 1988, from 1988 to 1991 advisor for Central and Eastern Europe at the Foreign Office , from 1991 to 1994 cultural attaché at the embassy in Madrid , 1994 to 1998 Deputy Head of Division at the Federal Chancellery , 1998 to 2000 Permanent Representative at the Embassy in Kiev and 2000 to 2003 Head of Division for Southeastern Europe at the Foreign Office. From 2003 to the end of July 2007 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Albania . During his tenure there, the Tirana German Military Cemetery was inaugurated in his presence as a guest of honor .

Annen was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Lithuania from 2008 to 2011 . In July 2012 he was succeeded Bernd Fischer Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Croatia and in 2015 by Thomas Schultze .
