Hans-Ulrich von Schweinitz

Hans-Ulrich von Schweinitz (born May 9, 1908 in Sitzmannsdorf, Ohlau district ; died January 24, 1972 in Remagen ) was a German diplomat.

Life

Hans-Ulrich von Schweinitz 'father Hans von Schweinitz was a Prussian officer, mountain ridge and district councilor in Lower Silesia . His mother was Margarethe von Prittwitz and Gaffron. Appropriately, he married Renata von Zastrow in 1939; they had a daughter and son Mark-Ulrich von Schweinitz .

Von Schweinitz attended high school in Liegnitz and from 1927 studied law in Geneva , Dijon and Vienna and received his doctorate in 1930 in Breslau . He went to Buenos Aires as an exchange student in 1931/32 . After the handover of power to the National Socialists , he became a member of the NSDAP on May 1, 1933 . In May 1934 he was accepted into the Foreign Service. He began his work abroad in 1935 in Amsterdam, then in 1936 for a year in Kabul . After the defeat of Czechoslovakia , he was deployed in the Reich Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1939/1940 . From 1941 he was consul in Alexandrette in neutral Turkey , where he was interned when Turkey entered the war in September 1944. In 1945/46 he was interned in occupied Germany.

Von Schweinitz worked for the German press service and in business from 1947 and was employed in the Federal Ministry of Economics from 1950 , which placed him in 1953 as director of the ECSC . In 1955 he was reassigned to the Foreign Service. Von Schweinitz became German ambassador to Thailand in 1962 and was ambassador to Kenya from 1967 to 1970 .
