Hans Adam Gienger von und zu Wolfseck and Rotteneck (born November 19, 1558 ; † April 3, 1623 in Wolfsegg ) came from an Ulm patrician family , was a judge at the Imperial Chamber of Commerce in Speyer and for many years Vice - Cathedral in Austria above the Enns .
Life

Hans Adam (also Johann Adam) was the second-born son of knight Cosmas Gienger von Wolfseck (1516–1592), war model commissarius in Hungary and Bohemia, Vice Cathedral of Upper Austria, and his second wife Katharina Haidenreich († 1582), daughter of Erasmus Heidenreich von Bidenegg, archducal court chamber councilor of Innsbruck. His older brother Hans Karl died at a young age, so he was the first in Primogeniture . His uncles held influential posts: Georg Gienger von Rotteneck (1500–1577) was Vice Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, Eutl Johann (Eitlhans) Gienger von Grienpichel (1505–1566 / 70) was Governor of Feldkirch and Land- and Feldzeugmeister in Tirol and Jakob Gienger von Grienpichel (1510–1578) was from 1554 to 1560 Vice Cathedral of Austria on the Enns and Lower Austria. Hofkammerrat.
Hans Adam studied in Dillingen and Ingolstadt, then was at Rudolf II's court in Prague until 1579 and then went on study trips to Italy. From 1585 he was an assessor at the Imperial Chamber of Commerce in Speyer and then became Imperial Councilor. In 1587 he went to Linz and from 1590 to 1621 was Vice Cathedral in Austria ob der Enns, which office his father Cosmas held from 1561 to around 1582. After his death in 1592 he inherited the estate and Veste Wolfsegg , which Emperor Rudolph II had given his father as a property. In 1606 Hans Adam became a state councilor and received an improvement in the coat of arms.
Hans Adam Gienger zu Wolfseck married Maria Magdalena Füeger (Fieger) († 1627) in Innsbruck on November 26, 1590 , the daughter of Georg Fieger zu Hirschberg, Archduke Ferdinand II. First Chamberlain in Tyrol , and Elisabeth Weitmoser zu Winkl. The marriage resulted in eleven children, six daughters and five sons. Four sons died before their father, Matthias, the second-born son intended for the successor, resisted all attempts at raising children and wanted to lead a free life. This went so far that the father had to release him from high debts several times and then finally disinherited him.
Since the brothers Hans Adams Hans Georg, soldier in the Netherlands, and Hans Karl the younger, Canon of Passau, had no male descendants either, the Gienger zu Wolfseck line of the male line died out with his death in 1623 .
