Hans Adolf von Spi (t) znas (* 1699 in Hohenölsen ; † March 22, 1758 in Saaz ) was a Württemberg lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Hans Adolf was a son of the Saxon-Weimar Chamberlain Rudolf Heinrich von Spitznas († 1725) and his second wife Anna Sibylle, née von Ebeleben.

Military career

Spitznas entered the Württemberg military service at a young age and was promoted to captain in the Leibregiment until 1733 . In 1736 he was in the infantry regiment "Landprinz" and in 1737 as a lieutenant colonel in the infantry regiment "von Remchingen" . He became adjutant general on October 29, 1742, was given the character of colonel and on May 1, 1744 he was granted a patent for his rank in the body regiment. Spitznas was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Hunting Order on November 3, 1747 and promoted to major general on May 20, 1748 .

On February 14, 1752, the French King Louis XIV and Duke Karl Eugen signed a secret treaty which obliged Württemberg to provide 6000 men for money. A battalion was therefore removed from the "Prince Louis" infantry regiment and formed into a new regiment consisting of two battalions in November 1752 .

So Spitznas got his own regiment on foot on December 15, 1752 and became lieutenant general on February 11, 1754. In 1757 the Seven Years War broke out. Württemberg now had to deliver. The promised troops were needed as auxiliary troops for the Austrians. The troops only existed on paper and the money was spent. Material, uniforms and people were organized in a hurry, the latter often by force.

Spitznas commanded the troops sent to Bohemia in place of Duke Karl Eugen. He took part in the attack on Krittern and Kleinburg on November 22nd, and in the Battle of Leuthen on December 5th . Of 4,877 men, 2924 reported after the battle. Spitznas died while retreating on March 22, 1758 in Saaz in winter quarters.

family

On January 29, 1732 he married Christiane Charlotte Friederike Freiin von Pöllnitz (1713–1749) from the Renthendorf house. The couple had four sons and four daughters, including:
