Hans-Arno Simon (born September 19, 1920 in Breslau ; † July 23, 1989 in Murnau ) was a German composer , singer , pianist and producer .

He was best known as a singer with popular hits like Anneliese , Oh, don't keep saying Dicker to me or Vodka Fox .

Life

Hans-Arno Simon became enthusiastic about music at an early age, but initially mainly in the classical field. At the age of 11 he gave his first public concert. At 14 he composed his first waltz.

After graduating from high school, Simon studied music, art history and German literature in Breslau and took directing and acting lessons. During his studies he also met his wife Ingeborg. In 1943 he worked as an assistant director for Arthur Maria Rabenalt .

After his release from captivity, Hans-Arno Simon became a freelance program designer at NWDR Hamburg , where he founded the Hamburg piano duo with Patrick Hoffmann . Three years later he was a guest solo pianist on all German broadcasters. He also played as a permanent guest at numerous international casinos in Germany.

Before and shortly after the Second World War, Hans-Arno Simon was one of the many German swing musicians who sometimes played “their” jazz in unofficial clubs, but turned to the more lucrative hits or even folk music at the beginning of the 1950s , such as Bully Buhlan , James Last , Ernst Mosch , Coco Schumann and Helmut Zacharias .

Telefunken engaged Simon exclusively in 1951, thus not only securing his recordings as a Schlager interpreter, but also his serious orchestral and piano works. During this time he also created his own television program with Klingendes Rendezvous with Hans-Arno Simon .

Simon is considered the first German pop singer to be awarded a gold record - in 1954 for his hit Anneliese - in the course of his career . After 1955 his successful days as a singer were over; as a composer of film and television music as well as for other pop singers, he was still quite successful.

His son Bernd Simon (1946–2017) worked as a music producer and voice actor , his daughter Pat Simon (* 1949) was a successful pop singer.
