Hans Eberhard von Tettau

Hans Eberhard von Tettau (born February 15, 1585 in Tolks near Bartenstein ; † December 27, 1653 ibid.) Was a Prussian statesman .

Life

Origin and family

Hans Eberhard was a member of the older Tolks family of the von Tettau family . His parents were the Prussian court master , captain and district administrator Hans von Tettau (1540–1598) and Anna, née von Lesgewang (1551–1634). He himself married Sophia von Schlieben (1600–1675) in 1615 . The marriage resulted in a daughter and three sons, including the Prussian court councilors Georg Abel von Tettau (1618–1677) and Hans Dietrich von Tettau (1620–1687).

Career

Tettaus university a closed grand tour through Germany , Denmark , the Netherlands , England , France and Italy, he returned from the 1609 to Prussia. He entered the diplomatic service that year and often represented the interests of Prussia at the Polish Diets and against King Sigismund III. of Poland (1566–1632). In 1622 he was appointed district administrator by Elector Georg Wilhelm von Brandenburg (1595-1640). In 1624 he became captain of Preussisch Eylau and Bartenstein, where he regulated church affairs. In 1627 he also became a Prussian land treasurer. He moved to Brandenburg as a captain in 1632 and became district director. In Brandenburg he also directed the regional court. He was a senior judge, and in 1636 he was a senior regimental advisor and senior burggrave. The new Elector Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg (1620–1688) made Tettau the Landhofmeister, with which he was at the head of the Prussian administration.

In 1619 Tettau was hereditary lord on Sieslack and Grauschienen in the Bartenstein district , on Schwollmen and Petershagen in the Preußisch Eylau district , and on Lindenau and Keulenburg in the Gerdauen district . 1640 he was also Tolks, large cherry activities , Mühlfeld and Sperlack in circles Prussian Eylau wealthy, were added in 1642 Sortlack in circles Bartenstein and 1652 Powarschen in circles Prussian Eylau.

Like his wife later, he was buried in the Tragheim church in Königsberg .
